Wednesday 19 September 2007. Day 30:Tokyo

Get up, have 7/11 breakfast (yoghurt & juice purchased the night before), then off to Shibuya to visit the worlds biggest Tower Records – hooray!! Lou leaves Ieuan browsing then comes back and we carry on looking until Lou spends 20 mins going up and down escalators looking for Ieuan expecting to find an angry face, but instead finds him happily making a purchase in the cd area. Go to TGIs for lunch as it’s gone 2:30 and there are limited options for lunch after 2.

Afterwards we wandered down to some other record shops, Ieuan spends time looking in those, whilst Lou browses the ethnic and save the world shops such as Katmandu for trinkets, scarves and bracelets. Next up further records shops, Ieuan decides that we need to come back for serious record purchasing (it must be noted that by this time the of the afternoon the spending ratio is weighted fairly heavily against Ieuan). Head off towards our hotel, trying to find a cool Japanese clothing label - Bathing Ape, eventually we find the shop which was very disappointing, not our thing at all, unlike the rip off gear that we’d bought in Malaysia. Had a nice afternoon drink in the Aveda café (spoiled only by the appearance of a large Mosquito that Ieuan couldn’t kill), then continued on our way back via a super market for grapes and bananas.

In the evening we head out to Roppongi to look at a couple of recommended Thai restaurants, although we were fairly dubious due to our previous Japanese Thai experience, however we eventually find a great restaurant Erewan Thai (Time Out had this underrated in our view) on the 13th floor of the Roi building looking towards the Tokyo Tower and a huge fair ride perched on top of a nearby 7 or 8 floor tower block. Great views over the city along with great food, Satay & Red Curry for Lou, Larb & Coconut Chicken for Ieuan.
