Tuesday 25 September 2007. Day 36. Asia Centre of Japan Hotel, Tokyo.

Went to see a Japanese custom bike builder near Kawasaki – got the train to the nearby station then enlisted the help of a local off licence owner to help us find it. After much frantic discussion, it was decided that a taxi would be called for us, who would take us there – which was kind of them. We purchased a small bottle of whiskey to show our appreciation, plus some soft drinks.

Got to the bikebuilders – a very small garage right on the edge of the road, to find only one bike in residence, which was part completed. Another one Ieuan had hoped to see had been sold and shipped off to it’s Italian owner. Ieuan took some pics of the bike there, and got a postcard of the other one. We get a mini tour of the workshop by the Japanese girl who works there, and who is extremely enthusiastic about everything and who giggles a lot.

Walk back to the station, stopping to take some pictures of the cranes in the river, and go back to Shibuya for a spot more shopping. Aveda again for lunch and after more shopping, home via a little café where we have drinks and spicy potatoes, with Ieuan demonstrating his excellent chopstick skills! That night, we go and book seats for the train to Tokyo tomorrow, then we go back to the delicious Thai – Erewan, in Roppongi, and have a lovely meal – although again we are bemused by the order in which the food comes out! For some reason, Ieuan’s coconut dish always comes before Lou’s main course and they wait until we have finished it to bring Lou’s main! Went home to find a group of Aussie schoolgirls being told off in the lobby of the hotel!
