Lou still ill with sore throuat and cold. Back in Tokyo, we went to drop the car back a day early as didn’t want to get caught up in any more Tokyo traffic by driving anywhere else, and got a refund for the unused day, which we were pleasantly surprised at! Headed to Shibuya for some shopping and Ieuan perused the record shops whilst Louise looked in Zara and Loft (Selfridges type place). Went to the Sony building and Ieuan bought a new camera. Also found a step up transformer so we can charge our wilting toothbrushes (oh what an exciting life we lead!).
Early afternoon we went to the Aveda Pure café for a spot of lunch – tomato / hummous soup and grains salad, plus banana bread, and then looked in the clothes shop Penguin where Lou got a top. Went back to hotel and spent a couple of hours packing up stuff to send home, as well as presents to send people. Just about managed to get it posted, (although not by the service we wanted as we failed to get understood) despite us and them not understanding half of what was going on! Back at the hotel, we collected our laundry after reception asked us to come down when it was quiet, to find we could have purchased our own launderette for the price for it – about 90 quid! It was most of our wardrobe though – 45 items! The hotel expected us to be very upset at the cost and refuse to pay, so kept apologising!
In the evening, we went to look for the Akasaka Teppanyaki place – eventually found it with help from the locals, but it was closed, and all in Japanese anyway. Ended up going to the Indian – Samrat – near our hotel, which was pretty good, but Lou realised that her cold has caused her to lose her sense of taste, so couldn’t taste a thing!
