Friday 14 September 2007. Day 25. La Vila Loti, Siem Reap – Holiday Inn, Singapore.

Up at 5am and leave for the airport at 5.30am. Arrive at 6 to find no people or queues at the brand new airport, so we check in and wait in the stifling heat for security to open. When it does, we head through and go to the coffee & internet bar which is just opening and grab 2 of the 3 pcs so we can use the internet. The 3rd pc is also busy, so a lovely german couple decide that if they stand aggressively right behind us and stare menacingly, we are likely to finish using the pc and they can use them. Needless to say, this ensures that we stay on as long as possible, although it is slightly off-putting since they are reflected in the monitor. Their tactic works with the people on pc number 3, who are talked into relinquishing their pc to the Germans. Much to our amusement, the Germans however immediately abandon the pc on realising there is a (small) charge to use the internet and its not free as they had assumed. Buy some Cambodian books and peruse the shops until we board the half empty plane, leaving on time – all very efficient after the jumbled mess of Air Asia.

Land in Singapore and taxi to Holiday Inn. Check in and head down to the Quay area and Liang Court for a look around. Have salad lunches at the riverside place the 1 Night Stand (Ieuan says not as good as he remembered from last time) and buy posting box to send more stuff home. That night, we go for tea at the Indian, Saffron, getting the usual hassle from the seafood restaurants on Boat Quay on the way there.
